Rainbow over the Falls

Ontario’s Niagara Falls are comprised of three waterfalls: the Horseshoe, American and Bridal Veil falls. The Horseshoe falls mark Canada’s border with the United States of America. The canyon separates the towns of Niagara Falls, Ontario and Niagara Falls, New York.

The area itself is a top tourist destination, with casinos, hotels, restaurants and even a water park! There is also an outlet village nearby in Niagara-on-the-Lake – a quaint town with a Stars Hollow feel to it.

Niagara Falls’ most spectacular feature has to be its wonderful firework show. The Canadian summer nights are the perfect setting for the display over the falls. This year, there are 114 shows scheduled throughout the summer months. Information about the fireworks and the date of the next scheduled show can be found here.

One of the best views of the falls can be taken in from the MistRider. The zipline runs alongside the Canadian side of the falls, and runs 670m (2,200ft) in length. The suppliers of the attraction, WildPlay, also run a Whirlpool Adventure Course experience suitable for children as young as 5 – the perfect family activity!

The Rainbow Bridge lies across the falls and connects Ontario and the state New York. It provides easy access to the USA for tourists visiting Canada. Not too far over the border is Buffalo where the Buffalo wing originated in 1964 – the chicken wings alone warrant a visit to this city.
