London is a top tourist destination for visitors from across the globe. It’s estimated that around thirty million people visit the city every year. It’s home to iconic buildings and museums, as well as some of the best musical productions in the world on the West End.

In London’s city centre, there’s plenty to see and do. The South Bank is a lively area, with many sights and activities on offer. The area, which lies on the River Thames, includes the National Theatre, the BFI Southbank cinema and a host of street performers. A short distance away you can find the London Eye, and just across the river is the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

If art and culture is your thing, London has plenty of galleries. The National Gallery, established in 1824, sits in Trafalgar Square. It displays paintings by artists including: Claude Monet, Pablo Picasso, Johannes Vermeer and Leonardo Da Vinci. Perhaps the most famous piece in the gallery is Vincent van Gogh’s Sunflowers.

Maybe you’re more of history fan – if so, why not get out of the city centre and visit what was formerly the home of Henry VIII? Hampton Court Palace is found in the picturesque setting of Richmond upon Thames. In the summer, the grounds host Hampton Court Palace Festival. Artists including Elton John, Frankie Valli and Andrea Bocelli have performed at the festival. In 2019, Kylie Minogue and The Jacksons will take to the stage! The idyllic location makes it a festival like no other.
